Our school nurse is available in the health office throughout the school week. To contact the office please call 341-5431. The following are some of the features of the Health Program carried out during the year:

l First aid is given for injuries, which occur in school, and parents are notified. The school nurse may not diagnose or treat illness but only administer first aid and offer advice regarding health care.

l Students must obtain a pass from a teacher before going to the health office.

l To be excused from physical education classes a note from a parent/guardian must be presented to the nurse. If this is for more than a week, a doctor's note is also required for a student to resume physical education activities.

l No student is to carry prescription or non-prescription medication to school. A parent or guardian must bring all medication to the nurse and see that the appropriate papers are completed by the child's physician in order to receive medication in school. According to New York State Education Law every medication administered (including over the counter and prescription medications) must have a written order from a licensed physician and written permission from the parent. The parent must also provide the medication in the properly labeled original container.

l At the beginning of the school year emergency information cards are sent home. These cards provide the school with vital information in the case of an emergency. It is important that the cards be returned as soon as possible and that the information be correct and current.
