Welcome to MHS
The goal of Middletown High School is to
prepare students for life, whether they choose to
continue their studies or seek employment after
graduation. Accredited by the New York State Board of
Regents, Middletown High School is recognized as a comprehensive
secondary school that provides all courses required for
graduation by the State of New York.
Our program reflects the community’s strong commitment
to
education, as well as its dedication to continued growth
and
development. Middletown’s quest for excellence is
evident through the programs and services made available
to help every student reach his or her full potential.
In addition, staff members continue to enhance their
skills and keep pace with the developments in their
profession through on-going staff development.
Honors and Accelerated College Credit courses
are available to Middletown High School students.
Beginning in the 2005-06 school year, the high school
expanded its college offerings to students. Middletown High School also
offers special academy programs to enhance the
curriculum including, the Academy of Information
Technology, the Academy of Finance, and the Naval
Science Junior ROTC program as well as the Project Lead
The Way (PLTW) program.
In the fall of 2007, the high school
launched a Freshman Academy
where ninth graders were placed on one of five teams (B.E.A.R.S).
Students in each team follow a regular ninth grade
schedule and take courses in English, math, social
studies and literacy with their team’s core group of
teachers. This experience provides teachers with the
opportunity to create a “family” environment to meet the
academic needs of all grade nine students.
In preparing our students for life, Middletown graduates
are competitive, hard working and ready for the future.
The Middletown school community has a tradition of
concern for educational excellence and Middie Pride is
evident in our community, schools and our students’
academic spirit. This truly is the Middletown
difference.
