2008—Forty-three
Middletown High School students were inducted into the
school's chapter of the National Honor Society, or NHS,
during a ceremony Thursday night.
National Honor Society, or NHS, is an organization whose
intent is to recognize high school students as incoming
seniors who show achievement in scholarship, leadership,
service, and character. Students must have at least a 90
percent grade point average and must fill out an
application, complete an essay, and interview.
During the induction, new members were welcomed into the
chapter by Middletown Executive Principal, Alan Gonzalez,
along with NHS advisor Robin Geiger, Superintendent of
Schools Dr. Kenneth Eastwood, Richard Del Moro, Director of
Secondary Education, and members of the Board of Education.
Each student received a certificate of membership and
participated in the traditional candle-lighting ceremony.
“You are the best of the best,” said Gonzalez. “The 2008
senior NHS class led our building in a positive way and
showed everyone what Middie Pride is all about. They have
left their mark and I expect the NHS class of 2009 to leave
your mark.”
