Technology/Business

The Technology and Business Department offers a wide range of courses and includes three academies; Academy of Finance, Academy of Information Technology, and Project Lead the Way.

Academy of Finance is a two year intensive program for juniors and seniors who would like to be involved in the business world with courses such as Accounting, Business Law,  Economics, Banking and Credit, International Finance.  There is a paid summer internship available to qualifying students in the summer of junior year. Students are also given the opportunity to become trained by the IRS and are able to complete basic tax forms for our students as well as community members at no cost.

Academy of Information Technology is a four year program beginning freshman year for students interested in computer studies. Some courses include: computer strategies, database, network and maintenance, programming.  There is also a paid summer internship junior year for qualifying students.

Project Lead the Way is new to MHS and is a pre-engineering program designed to familiarize students with basic engineering concepts.  We have state of the art equipment available and courses include CAD, Design and Drawing, Digital Photography and Video Production to name a few.

Other business courses which are not Academy courses include Microsoft Office Skills, Business Communications, and Entrepreneurship.  In all courses, students are provided with the opportunity to develop career awareness, job readiness skills and an understanding of the impact of technology in our lives.
