Health Office
Procedures l
As a procedure, we ask parents to keep their children
home from school if they show any sign of infection. At
school, your child is closely associated with many
youngsters. Watch him/her for these symptoms: sore
throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, chills, skin rash
or sores, inflamed or reddened eyes, running nose,
discharging ear, red or swollen joints, coughing or
enlarged glands, ear ache, flushed face or head lice.
l
If your child has a fever above 100 degrees orally, he/she
should not return to school until his/her temperature has
been in a normal range in the preceding 24 hours.
l
Please have any child with a rash or eye inflammation
checked by your health care provider to determine
whether or not it is contagious.
l
First aid
is only given for minor injuries received in school. The
school health personnel may not legally prescribe for,
diagnose or treat illness. Their role is to aid in
discovering conditions which may interfere with optimum
physical and mental well being, and to give parents and
teachers a better understanding of the student's
individual needs.
l
During the
first week of school, every student is given a school
health service emergency information form. Information
from this form is used to update your child's record.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE SCHOOL HAVE A NUMBER WHERE
PARENTS CAN BE REACHED IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY!
