Presidential Park project

  • In December 2008, Middletown residents passed the proposed referendum to demolish Chorley Elementary School and purchase property in Clemson Park to build a new K-5 elementary school- at no increase to the tax levy. Use the links to learn more about the project, view presentations, and resolutions.

Proposition 1: Proposition 1 will allow the district to purchase 19 acres in Clemson Park, for $2.61 million, adjacent to Chorley, on which the new elementary school will be built. The district would use money from its fund balance to purchase the property.

Proposition 2: Proposition 2 will allow the district to build a new 62-classroom elementary school for $63,490,000 million. Costs would be covered by State aid, Contract for Excellence (C4E) money, savings from bringing BOCES students back into the district, and the district's fund balance.

Proposition 1: 429 yes votes to 238 no votes
Proposition 2: 414 yes votes to 241 no votes
