The New York State Education Department (SED) requires that Contract for Excellence (C4E) School Districts provide the public with information. In an effort to keep our community informed about C4E, Middletown has developed this page.

SED requires Middletown to follow specific C4E requirementsall are listed below. In addition, links to some general information about C4E and our 2009-10, 2008-09, and 2007-08 C4E plans have been provided.

Public C4E Requirements

June 1, 2009 Deadline for districts to certify and submit Contracts on system
June 1, 2009 School districts publicize proposed 2010 C4E plan and post for 30-day comment period (within 48 hours of certifying and submitting the Contract)
 June 1, 2009 Districts notify SED of summer programs using 2009-10 C4E funds
 July 1, 2009 Public comment period ends (or 30 days after posting date)
 July 1, 2009 Districts have completed their public hearing(s) by the end of the public comment period
 July 10, 2009 Deadline for C4E resubmission of applications from districts
July 13, 2009 Districts post assessment of C4E public comments (or within 12 days of the end of posting)
July 15, Aug. 15, and Sept. 15, 2009 as needed Contracts submitted to Commissioner for approval of 2009-10 C4E
Sept.1, 2009 Districts report C4E expenditures for 2008-09 school year
October 15, 2009 Rest of State (ROS) districts (excluding the Big 5 city districts) submit auditing reports to NYSED Audit Office
January 15, 2010 Rest of State (ROS) districts (excluding the Big 5 city districts) submit corrective action plans to NYSED Audit Office
